The Workshop was awarded the Police Scotland (formally Grampian Police) catering contract in February 2005 after competing successfully against major national suppliers. The contract sees The Workshop provide full staff restaurants, convenience shops and vending services for approx 1400 staff across 4 locations in Aberdeen. In addition, it provides prisoner meals, packed and buffet lunches for training courses, and breakfast, lunch and dinner for residential programmes.
Since award of the contract, The Workshop has extensively refurbished the existing canteen facilities and extended the catering hours; which has resulted in a massive 65% reduction of client subsidy and doubled turnover. The Workshop employs five full and three part time staff between the two sites.
The Workshop provides:

"After a tendering process based on quality and value for money, the "Workshop" were successful in obtaining the Grampian Police Force in-house catering contract.
"A good selection of hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and drinks at competitive prices are available in the canteens as well as High Street products such as Starbucks coffee, a selection of daily newspapers, greeting cards and pharmaceuticals.
"From day one, both of the Force's major canteens at Queen Street and Nelson Street were refurbished, which immediately changed the image and use made of these facilities. This improvement to the service has resulted in the turnover of both canteens increasing substantially.
"The "Workshop" have also been flexible in their approach to providing a varied service for a range of other catering services. This includes an excellent standard of dinner options when, as Chief Constable, my Force Executive and I host public sector partners at evening business meetings.
"The Force are delighted with the total catering service being provided and have developed a good working relationship with the "Workshop". We would happily recommend them to others."
